Zoid History

The History of Zoids takes place back in the 1980's. Back then, they were only model kits that looked like dinosaurs mostly. The models were the main creations back then, some videos were created later on, using the model kits instead of the anime (Kind of resembeled Godzilla, was pretty entertaining to watch, very funny).

Eventually, TOMY created a new line of zoids in 1982 that consisted of Garius, Elephantus and Glidoler. The new line didn't fall through, and TOMY pulled the idea back shortly after. That didn't stop the ideas from rolling in though. They eventually started to create the zoids so their weapons could be changed (It also put more money in their pockets to make us buy extra stuff :P), and the idea was success! We still use this feature today as a matter of fact, such as on the Blade Liger. You can equip it with either an additional CP-15 Attack Gattling Unit or the CP-12 Attack Booster.

Another funny fact that I'll throw in for you all, is that TOMY also released a line of "Large Scale" zoids that were known as 1:24's. They were HUGE and came with 3 inch pilots. Sadly to say, the idea didn't work out as planned for TOMY and they recalled it.

The UK had its own idea for zoids. As zoids grew it went from one thing to the next, comics, manga, anime, video games, etc. In the UK, Zoids was featured in a magazine known as "Spider Man and Zoids". Yes, they put Marvel and Zoids together in a comic. For some reason, the UK had its own little storyline for Zoids, separating Zoids into Red and Blue war factions. The storyline has nothing what-so-ever in common with the Zoids series we know, that was created much later on after the weekly comic series in the UK and Europe.

The anime series that came along after all the model kit madness only increased the popularity. Zoids was branched out into many different series, kicking it off with Zoids: Chaotic Century in 1999 to 2000, which it was then followed up by Zoids: New Century Zero that ranged from January 2001 to June 2001. Then came zoids fuzors..which lasted around 2 months because it sucked (In my opinion). It was around that time that zoids seemed to come to a halt in its production/business (2004), with still so much to share with its viewers.

It was then that a truely heroic series arose. Zoids Genesis (Which is AMAZING GOOD, in my opinion) arose in April 2005 to March 2006. You can see from the range of time, that the show was bringing Zoids back to life. Ever since CC/GF era ended it slowly started to go downhill, but Genesis pulled it back up and took it onto a new level. Sadly to say, Cartoon Network and Geneon Entertainment had NO part in this amazing series. Genesis was liscensed by Viz Media instead, and what a good choice Viz! If I might say, along with my other zoid fans out there, BRING ON MORE ZOIDS!
